Videos

Hey, I've also added a YouTube video link to my page. It has a few videos that our throwers here at UGA have made these last couple of weeks. Check it out. They post a video from every track meet and some crazy fun videos too. So check them out, they'll make you laugh your "pants on the floor"... lookin' like a fool wit your pants on the floor! lol

I feel enlightened...

So today was one of those days... one of those Awesome days! I woke up, went to church, heard a fabulous sermon that just spoke to me... had a relax filled couple of hours studying the Word... hit up a great bible study (well actually 1 and a half studies) with one of my favorite teacher's Carolyn Rogers, bless her heart ;)... and just got back from our Big Team United Monthly Worship meeting! This was an Awesome day!

Okay, I know some of you readers are probably like what the heck am I talking about!?!... and why is church and bible study make an awesome day? Well, in case you didn't know already, I'm a Christian! No, I'm not someone who says they're christian and it doesn't mean any difference. I'm a Christian that is actually striving everyday to be more and more Christ-like. Which I believe is the only reason that I'm here in Georgia and even throwing spears! In all the things I do I try to bring Glory to God, including stickchucking.

So today was Great! I Praised the Lord all day!... and it seemed extra special today. It wasn't just the usual (since I've been on this schedule for 3 weeks now) everywhere I turned it was like God was telling me all the answers I needed to hear.

I've been struggling for a while with this whole "what the heck am I going to do with my life!" thing... I have track and hopefully continuing after this season... I applied for this gov't job with the military that would start after the season was over... I applied for graduate school for the fall... and pretty much just doing anything to cover my bases for what God wants to do in my life. Well, today we can say I had a major wake up call!!!

When going to church this morning, before I could even hit the door a great friend of mine named Christie gave me a great hug... she pulled me inside and gave me some great words (I swear this woman is so blessed with God's spirit). She said that today in church I was going to hear something just for me. She said that Pastor Scott had a message that would change my life. Well, of course at first I was like okay, "What you talkin' about Christie". But after leaving today's service I don't think I've ever cried that much in church ever before... and I'm a crier!

I don't remember every word Pastor Scott at Cornerstone said this morning, but I know what I got from it. The message was from Hebrews 11:1 which says, "Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." This hit me hard because I know I have to have Faith in God when it comes to my future... and I know whatever happens is in His hands, so I'm not really worried about my choices... but I never thought that I have to have faith in something specific... I have to continue with my dreams and goals and hope for a path, to have Faith in God.

This was the pinnacle answer I've been looking for, for almost 2 months now and it didn't just stop there. I went to my usual bible study at 3pm with Mrs. Carolyn Rogers and then later to our Big Team United Worship Meeting at 7pm and the Lord showed me through Carolyn and through James Malick, or whatever his name was... the same message. In both Carolyn's and James's messages they talked about knowing God and how if you really know Him, there is no way you'd just walk away from Him. Knowing God and knowing what knowing God will do for your life WILL lead you to want other's to have that change also.

This was incredible! I know now that I need to focus on a dream and goal in my life. Like Pastor Scott said today, "If you can dream it, God can make it happen!... Just be carefully what you dream for." Continuing to follow God's commandments and knowing that anything can happen is what I live for. Plus, sharing what I know and have experienced in God's love is important and vital.

Please keep me in your prayers and I will be praying for you, my readers also. Post any prayer requests you might have and don't be afraid to leave a comment about what I've said. I'm just learning like crazy and making mistakes along the way. It's funny because it's not necessarily always through school or sports that we grow, yet God is using us for something bigger and I can't wait for what's in store.

First things first... with this blog thing anyway

Hi. I'm Michelle Thompson.
If you have already read my "about me" you would know that I'm a stickchucker. I throw the Javelin for the University of Georgia. I've graduated with a degree in Family Financial Planning. I'm in my last season here at Georgia and I've had a great amount of success already... Whatever!... blah, blah, blah...

I'm here to give it to you "real" in my day to day life. I'm here at Georgia and man I'm kinda fed up with this whole training thing and hearing other people in their blogs talk about what they dream about for next season or say to themselves! Please... without getting to see any actual results that bologna is nothing... but bologna. Don't get me wrong! I do dream and I have goals, but I'm not out to beat any specific person!... or worship some crazy trophy! I'm here to get better and be the best I can be... if I happen to beat a few people and win a few trophies along the way that's fine with me, but not my ultimate goal. I'm just ready for another Track Season!!!.... and I'm being honest! I'm trying not to be too excited for the season, since it's still like a month and a half away, but I'm ready. I just know I'm a heck of a lot stronger and I'm chuckin' this spear thing pretty far these days, but I really just can't wait to start hitting the runway and measuring what's out there.

It might be this whole Indoor Track season. It's starting off to a good start with the team and my roommate Nicole gets all excited for her meets, which in turn gets me excited. Nicole is only in her second year in the "USA" (as she says it). She's from Slovakia and boy can that chick throw a hammer, and a weight!... Oh, it's great having her as a roommate. We have fun times together. I think as this blog goes on you'll hear plenty about Nicole as well as all the other throwers here at UGA.

Well, it's kinda late now and I've got church tomorrow so I'll continue this later, but here's a few pics of our banquet in the fall:
